Word count divided by 220 words per minute, which is a common average adult silent-reading speed, then shown in minutes and seconds.

Does it count characters with or without spaces?

Both. The stats show total characters and characters excluding whitespace separately.

Is my text saved or sent anywhere?

No. Everything is counted locally in your browser and nothing is stored or transmitted.

What counts as a sentence?

The tool counts sequences ending in a period, question mark, or exclamation mark. Abbreviations can cause a small over-count.
